If you are looking for an OTL tube amp that pairs excellently with headphones like the HD600 or 650, allows you to tube roll without breaking the bank, and conceivably could go head-to-head with OTLs that cost 3x as much (I'm looking at you, WA2), then IMO the crack is a great choice. Some caveats. If you cannot DIY, then this is not for you (unless you can get someone to build it for you). Even though this is a relatively simple DIY project, to does involve some degree of technical proficiency. So what to do if you want a Crack but don't want to DIY one?

If you live in a reasonably large metropolitan area, here's my suggestion: go the engineering or computer science department of your local university and put up a notice on a bulletin board that you require the services of a mercenary soldersmith. I will bet you an upvote that someone will be interested enough to take you up on the offer. If this is your first time DIYing, please do take sensible precautions because, well, voltages. Make sure you budget for a decent soldering iron (because you know you will always want more after the first time you do it) and a multimeter. I would suggest that you build the crack in 2 stages: first the regular crack, and then after you have listened to it for a few weeks, the speedball upgrade.
